Diabetes Treatment
Diabetes is a disease that affects 23.6 million adults and children in the United States with 1.6 million new diagnosis in people over 20 years old per year! This disease causes many different health problems ranging from blindness, kidney problems, amputations, and nervous system damage.
Diabetes causes the pancreas (organ that produces natural insulin) to not function properly, causing people with diabetes to have an unregulated sugar level in their blood. When the levels get too high or too low, a person may lose conciousness and become comatose.
People with diabetes usually either take conventional medicine such as pills or insulin shots to control their blood sugar levels. Individuals who have a slight case of diabetes, where sugar levels do not fluctulate to extremes, have been known to control their sugar levels by a strict diet.
In 2007, a study was conducted in the Philippines comparing people who were hyperglycemic and people who do not have any history of diabetes. The study measured the blood sugar levels on the participants while taking Moringa.
The study showed that people who were not hyperglycemic did not see any impact on their sugar levels. However, in the patients who were hyperglycemic, there was a significant drop in the sugar levels from drinking tea made with Moringa leaf. Therefore, Moringa leaves have been used with positive results in support of Diabetes management.
